Wicked Ridge’s Latest Crossbow Just Right for New Hunters

It’s no secret that crossbows are great tools for introducing archery hunting to young people, women and new hunters. New for 2019, TenPoint Crossbow Technologies has released its Wicked Ridge Ranger X2 crossbow in hopes that it will help expand hunting opportunities for those interested in learning to hunt. “TenPoint is committed to introduce more beginners to the woods,” said Rick Bednar, TenPoint CEO. “We believe the Ranger X2 is the ideal crossbow for small-frame shooters due to its size, weight and length-of-pull, regardless of their age or gender.”

The 2019 Ranger X2 crossbow is nearly 4 inches narrower and 30 feet-per-second faster than the previous Ranger model. It measures a highly maneuverable 16 inches wide axle-to-axle when cocked and shoots a quick 330 fps with 85 foot-pounds of kinetic energy. The bow assembly is built around a lightweight aluminum riser fitted with 11-inch WRX limbs, and is powered by 4S cams and DynaFLIGHT 97 string and cables with tunable yokes — all matched for optimum functional efficiency. The Ranger X2 also features an easy-to-manage 150-pound draw weight and comes standard with the ACU-52 stock-integrated rope cocking system that reduces the overall draw weight by 50 percent.

Designed specifically for youth and small-framed shooters, the Ranger X2 measures only 33.9 inches long and boasts a semi-skeletal stock assembly that reduces the overall weight of the crossbow to only 5.9 pounds when fully assembled. The stock has a pass-through foregrip that helps keep the shooter’s fingers away from the path of the bowstring, plus nylon safety wings mounted just above the foregrip serve as an additional barrier to keep fingers protected.

The crossbow also features TenPoint’s 3.5-pound auto-engaging safety trigger, which automatically starts the trigger safety mechanism in the “safe” position simply by cocking the crossbow. Like all TenPoint and Wicked Ridge crossbows, the Ranger X2 is equipped with TenPoint’s DFI (Dry-Fire-Inhibitor) mechanism that prevents dry-fire damage to the bow assembly if a shot is taken without having an arrow loaded onto the crossbow. These features combine to make the Ranger X2 one of the safest youth hunting crossbows on the market.

The Wicked Ridge Ranger X2 is sold as a complete hunting system that includes the TenPoint Multi-Line Scope, the ACU-52 stock-integrated rope cocking mechanism, three 18-inch carbon arrows and a 3-arrow quiver for an MSRP of $479.99. Plus, the Ranger X2 is made in the U.S.A.
